The project, which will be developed in partnership with the private sector, forms part of national initiatives to enhance the Kingdom’s reliance on renewable energy sources and contributes to Bahrain’s target of reaching net-zero carbon emissions by 2060.
[pdf] These systems, which are considered as “behind-the-meter” (BTM) systems, allow facilities to maximize the benefits of on-site renewable generation. BTM systems give facilities the option to reduce demand charges1 imposed by the utility and leverage time-of-use rates2 to lower operational costs.
[pdf] Located in Egypt’s southern Benban region, the project includes 1GW of photovoltaic solar capacity alongside 600MWh of energy storage. The scope of work includes design, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning, and operation and maintenance.
