The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis notified the public of a new agreement with the Republic of China (Taiwan) to develop a 50-megawatt land-based Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Plant that will foster industrial growth and enhance energy resilience on the island.
[pdf] Backed by St Lucia Electricity Services (LUCELEC), the initiative will be developed on a 70-acre site on the island’s southwest coast. Once complete, the system will connect to LUCELEC’s 66 kV transmission grid, reinforcing local grid stability while increasing renewable energy penetration.
[pdf] Construction work will include the development of 10 MW of solar power along with an energy storage system with two-hour lithium-ion batteries with a capacity of approximately 13 MW / 26 MWh, as well as connection to LUCELEC’s 66 kV transmission grid.
