Freetown, Sierra Leone | 10 April 2025: The Republic of Sierra Leone today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Hecate Global Renewables (HGR), and Africa50 to develop 100 MW of Renewable Energy projects including Battery Energy Storage Systems (“BESS”).
[pdf] Huawei’s energy storage project is advancing significantly, with distinct milestones achieved in 2023, expanding its global influence in renewable energy solutions, increasing partnerships with local utilities, and enhancing technological innovations to improve efficiency and reliability.
[pdf] The project, owned and operated by AES Distributed Energy, consists of a 28 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) and a 100 MWh five-hour duration energy storage system. AES designed the unique DC-coupled solution, dubbed “the PV Peaker Plant,” to fully integrate PV and storage as a power plant.
