This project is a critical step in Brunei’s journey to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050, a target enshrined in the Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy (BNCCP). The solar plant is a joint venture between Berakas Power Company (BPC) and TotalEnergies Renewables, Brunei.
[pdf] The project, owned and operated by AES Distributed Energy, consists of a 28 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) and a 100 MWh five-hour duration energy storage system. AES designed the unique DC-coupled solution, dubbed “the PV Peaker Plant,” to fully integrate PV and storage as a power plant.
